Lipstick!

I don't know that I really need an explanation for these pictures other than the boys got into my lipstick! Thankfully they only "painted" their faces and not my walls!

The boys didn't grab 1, 2 or 3 tubes of lipstick....they got 5! I guess mixing colors is always fun :)

Logan again...

I had Logan to the allergist today after school. While he was sitting on my lap shirtless and giving me a hug the nurse was pricking his back with allergens. After the third prick he turned around to her and said, "you hurt my BODY." Shortly thereafter the nurse left the room and returned a short while later with stickers for Logan which he refused saying, "No! You mean hurt me!"

Prairie Days

I feel like we are back in the "Prairie Days," here at the Esbenshade household. Logan has somewhere picked up calling me "Maw" instead of mommy or mom. Today at lunch the boys were eating macaroni and cheese and Logan was making a mess. So I told him, "Logan please stop making a mess," he replied "yes Maw." A little while later I asked if he was done (since he was playing with his food more than eating it) and his reply was "no Maw, I not done." It's just adorable to hear but it sure does make me feel like I am on Little House on the Prairie!

Here is a conversation that Logan and I had this past Sunday:

L: running to me with much excitement "Maw this?" as he points to the top of his helicopter

W: "The propeller," I said.

L: "Yes!"

W: "I think it's in the toy closet Logan, go look"

L: he runs over to the toy closet immediately opens and closes the door and comes running back "No Maw, I not find it!"

Is that not a typical guy response? Not taking even a second to look for something before asking you to get up and get it?

One other little cute response: I have been teaching Logan that Luke is his brother. So I "test" him every now and then. The other afternoon I asked Logan: "Who's your brother?' he replies "Duke" (that's what he calls Luke). "Good job Logan," so I ask, "Who's your daddy?", he replies very matter of fact, "Chris!" I burst of laughing not expecting him to actually say his actual name. So I go on, "OK, Logan who's your mommy?" He looks at me as if I was completely clueless and says, "mommy!" So lesson learned, I guess I call out Chris' name much more than he calls out mine!

Pumpkin Patch

A couple of weeks ago Chris and I took the boys to the pumpkin patch. We rode the tractor out to the field and the boys had a fantastic time finding the perfect pumpkins.....over and over and over again! Finally a decision was made and the perfect pumpkins found the perfect place to call home.

Fix It

The day has finally come where I decided to wean Luke from his NUK addiction! This past Tuesday I decided to gather all of his nuks and cut the tips off of them. I have heard/ read that this is a successful and least painful way to break the nuk habit.

Well, Tuesday morning rolled around and when he woke up came downstairs and wanted his nuk...I gave the cut one to him. He put it in his mouth, decided something was wrong - he then turned it upside down while still in his mouth and decided that wasn't right either, took it out looked at it and threw it on the ground in pure disgust! He cried/ asked for another nuk (anack as he calls it) I gave that to him, he repeated the process and threw that one down too. He looked at me totally confused and I told him his nuk was broken. So he picked one of the nuks up walked over to his tool bench, picked up his pretend drill put the nuk right up to the drill and turned the drill on and said "fix it!"

It hasn't even been a week and I am happy to say that we are nuk free!!!! Almost no tears were shed and very little sleep, if any, was lost! Hooray! If only I had known months ago that it would be this easy....

Community Days

This past week was community days at Logan's preschool. They were visited by the fire dept., police dept., and the ambulance and rescue squads. Logan loved seeing and hearing all of the trucks and sirens. At the end of the visit all of the little boys and girls were given fire hats and coloring books. Logan loves to wear his fire hat and demonstrate his "stop, drop and roll" techniques!

Logan is loving school and just adores his teacher, Mrs. Siebert. Every single art project that he makes is for his daddy and just can't wait until he walks into the door at 5pm to show him his creations. Logan looks forward to Tues & Thurs when he can spend more classroom time playing with his friends and learning fun things!

Shoe Fetish!

Luke has developed a shoe fetish! Yes, that's right, he loves shoes...especially my shoes! He gets into my closet and rearranges my shoes the the rack, helps himself to the perfect pair that matches his outfit and struts his stuff all around the house! The other day I caught him with a pair of my peep toe high heels! Wish I had the camera for that shot! He also loves to pair his shoes with the perfect Mickey Mouse hat....

Walt Disney World

My mom and I took the boys down to Florida to visit my grandma (g.g. for the boys) for a few days. The boys were awesome on the airplane (both ways) and were just so excited to be riding in a "big plane" as Logan put it. This was Logan's 2nd ride on a plane (he was 5 months old the last time he flew) and it was Luke's first. They enjoyed themselves very much and thought it was funny they were flying like birds!

As a way to pass the time in Orlando the 5 of us spent 2 days in Magic Kingdom and 1 day at Animal Kingdom. Logan was thrilled to pieces to meet Mickey Mouse and gave him and Minnie many hugs, high fives and was just amazed at how big his shoes were! He ran up to Mickey and gave him a hug and said, "Mickey Big Shoes!" He just couldn't stop smiling and talked about him the rest of the trip. He also met many other characters, although he doesn't know who they are at this young age but was thrilled the most with Mickey. Luke on the other hand could have cared less and was at some points scared of them. I am sure that in a couple years he will be waiting in lines for those autographs!

Here are some pictures from our trip. I didn't get as many pictures as I had hoped and they didn't turn out as well as I would have liked but there they are none the less. My mom had her hands full with my grandma in a wheelchair and me with the two boys and the stroller. We will definitely be back in the future and will get much better pictures then!

P.S. Luke's restraint system (a.k.a. leash) worked out GREAT!!!

Safari Ride
We all loved this ride. We saw many different animals but below are just a few. Many pictures came out blurry since the ride was so bumpy and it proved to be a challenge while trying to hold onto my boys as well!

White Rhinos

Gorilla
This was actually not in the safari ride but had their own exhibit. There must have been 12 silver back gorillas wandering around. All of us loved watching them in action. We got to see them run and even throw sticks at us. What fun!
